The second 17-year-old girl, who was in critical condition at the KAT Hospital, has also died after she and her friend fell from the roof of an apartment building in Ilioupoli. The minor had been fighting for her life since Tuesday 12 May, when the tragedy occurred, but on Thursday evening (14/05) she succumbed to her serious injuries.

The 17-year-old was being treated intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of KAT, with doctors making great efforts to keep her alive. Despite the battle, her health condition remained extremely critical and she ultimately did not make it.

The KAT Hospital expresses its sincere condolences to her relatives.”

Following the death of the second girl, the case has caused deep sadness in the local community and among the classmates of the two minors. It will be recalled that the first 17-year-old girl had lost her life shortly after they fell from the 6th floor of the apartment building.

The parents of the first minor had requested, instead of wreaths, that donations be made to “The Smile of the Child” to honour her memory through the support of children in need.

The tragic incident happened on the morning of Tuesday, May 12, on Eleftheriou Venizelou Street in Ilioupoli. According to reports, the two friends went up to the roof of the apartment building where one of them was staying and shortly afterwards fell into the void. Police authorities are examining all the facts of the case, while the door of the terrace was found locked.

Residents in the area described scenes of shock immediately after the fall. Eyewitnesses said they heard loud voices and a deafening noise before realising what had happened. Ambulances of the ambulance and forces of the National Police immediately rushed to the scene, while the two minors were initially transferred to the Voula Asclepion.

One of the girls was transported without a pulse and, despite resuscitation efforts that lasted more than an hour, doctors were unable to revive her. The second was then taken to the emergency room, where she was treated until Thursday night, when she died.
