The holidays for a family of British tourists in Corfu were fatal as the father died and his minor son was seriously injured in a car crash at 14:00 in the north of the island.
Specifically, the accident occurred on the main provincial road of Rhodes-Acharavi in Almiros, when the sow driven by the 42-year-old father and in which his child, 15 years old, for unknown reasons, deviated from its course, entered the oncoming current and fell into an olive grove.
The mobilisation of the National Police and the Fire Brigade was immediate. Firefighters extricated the unconscious driver and seriously injured the child. By ambulance the father was taken to the Regional Medical Center of Acharavi and from there to the Hospital of Corfu with the rescuers of the ambulance to fight to keep him alive.
At the scene of the accident, a doctor from the Acharavi Medical Center arrived to assist the rescuers of the 2nd ambulance that picked up the 15-year-old to take him to the hospital.
