A 56-year-old man was arrested today in the community of Alsos in Aegialeia, Achaia, who was the subject of a pending Interpol Australia Red Notice of International Search for the offence of manslaughter.

The arrest of the 56 year old man was made following the use of information received by the International Police Cooperation Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, according to which the wanted man was staying in the area of Alsos using false identification.

A special team of police officers was formed to locate the man, who, after searches, checks and investigations, established his true identity and located him.

More specifically, according to police, the 56-year-old man was spotted this morning driving a car, along with an 86-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman. When the officers stopped him for checking, the 56-year-old man gave false information about his identity and said he did not have a police identity card with him, a claim that was supported by both the 86-year-old man and the 47-year-old woman. This was immediately followed by a verification of his identity through the police’s automatic fingerprint recognition system, which revealed that he was the person wanted internationally.

In addition, searches conducted at the 56-year-old’s home yielded a bow with five arrows, two knives, a laptop computer, three storage devices, and 13 cell phones.

A case has been filed against the 56-year-old for violation of the weapons legislation and false testimony and he will be brought before the prosecutor of the Patras Appeals Court, while procedures have been initiated for the execution of the Interpol Red Notice of International Search.

In addition to the 56-year-old man, the 86-year-old man and the 47-year-old woman were arrested and charged with aiding and abetting a criminal.
