“The rail replacement work on the busiest section of Athens Metro Line 2, Sepolia – Dafni, have been successfully completed well ahead of the initial schedule, while starting tomorrow, Monday, during nighttime hours, work will take place on Line 3 and on the Panormou – Nomismatokopio section, according to an announcement by STASY.
From the start of work in November 2025 until its completion on June 11, 21.6 km of track were replaced, and 1,300 welds were performed and ultrasonic inspections were conducted.
According to STASY, the works are “progressing at a rapid pace” and starting tomorrow, Monday, June 15, they will move to Metro Line 3, specifically to the Panormou – Nomismatokopio section, where temporary traffic arrangements will be in effect during nighttime hours.
Specifically, the Panormou, Katechaki, Ethniki Amyna, Holargos, and Nomismatokopio will close at 9:40 PM from Sunday through Thursday, two and a half hours earlier than the scheduled end of service. Train service on Line 3 during the work hours will operate between the stations Municipal Theater – Ambelokipi and Agia Paraskevi – D. Plakentias – Airport.
