This Good Friday morning, there was a traffic accident on the Athens Lamia highway, with a car crashing into the crash barriers.
More specifically, the accident happened at around 10am at km 138, on the traffic flow towards Lamia.
How the accident happened
According to lamiareport, the driver of the vehicle lost control when the tire blew out, causing it to crash into the crash barriers.
The vehicle was occupied by a mother and son with the driver being injured – fortunately slightly – and taken by ambulance to the Atalanti Health Centre for first aid.
Ambulance ambulance rushed immediately to the scene, while the contribution of the Fire Service was also significant, with men from the Atalanti Fire Brigade operating to clear the roadway and remove the debris. Traffic was fully restored a few hours later with traffic, due to the Easter holiday, being particularly heavy.
