The charges against the 16-year-old motorcycle driver who hit and ran over the 16-year-old girl in Liosia on Saturday afternoon (4/18/2026) are stiff, and doctors will try to wake the young woman up today (Tuesday, 4/21/2026).
The 16-year-old continues to be in the ICU since the day she was swept away in Liosia as she suffered fractures in several parts of her body. The next few hours are therefore very critical as doctors will attempt to wake her up, according to ERT.
It is noted that the Sudanese perpetrator had previously concerned the authorities, as he was dealing drugs at a school in Kypseli. At the age of 14, he had, according to police, together with other people, trafficked drugs to students at a school in Kypseli.
“He was not alone, they had a whole clique, they had a group. “They were ‘pushing’ drugs to the children,” said a student’s father.
The attempt to cover up the accident
The 16-year-old, along with his passenger, left 16-year-old Veronica bleeding on the tarmac and disappeared.
From that moment on, a cover-up attempt was launched by the owner of the motorcycle and a friend, who reported it stolen. By the time the passenger came forward and revealed the identity of the Sudanese minor, resulting in the arrest of all three.
Police officers immediately learned the Sudanese man’s address in the Kipseli area. They arrived but found no one on the floor where he lives. They eventually arrested him a short distance from the Kipseli police station.
The 16-year-old driver was charged with two felonies
The 16-year-old motorcycle driver was prosecuted for two felonies – that of dangerous driving, which caused serious bodily harm, with the aggravating circumstance that he did not have a driver’s license, and the second felony involves leaving the scene of an accident.
The Sudanese juvenile is due to enter a plea on Thursday, while the other three arrestees are due to be arraigned on Wednesday.
The Chronicle
Recall that the young girl was trying to cross the street on Liosia Street last Saturday (4/18/2026) to pick up a parcel from a delivery box she had ordered.
A motorbike then crossed the road, resulting in a drift and serious injury to the 16-year-old girl, while the occupants fled.
