The lottery for the admission of students to Experimental Schools for the school year 2026-27 will be held today, Friday, at the 2nd Experimental Daily General Lyceum of Agia Varvara, with a live webcast.
The draw will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports (https://www.youtube.com/live/_Q-MWjRLIZI) and on ERT (https://footage.ert.gr/events/ertnews2_202601.html)
At the conclusion of the said draw, the public draw will be held for the allocation of random number of priority for the purpose of adjusting the tie-breakers in the Standard, Public Onassis and Standard Church Schools. The list of random numbers will be notified by posting on the website of the IEPC (https://depps.minedu.gov.gr) and the DEDIMOS (https://dedimos.minedu.gov.gr), with reference to the six-digit code of each candidate.
The Ministry of Education has made it known that the draw will be carried out electronically by the Drawing Committee, with the support of the Institute of Computer Technology and Publishing (ITYE) – Diophantus, in the presence of a notary, through appropriate software (electronic draw).
In addition, it is recalled that the coming weekend of April 25 and 26, 2026, the admission examinations for the Standard, Public Onassis and Standard Church Schools for the year 2025-2026 will be conducted with 18.346 students have registered to take part. On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the skill test (test) for admission to the Standard (PS) and Standard Ecclesiastical (SSE) schools will be conducted. Subsequently, on Sunday, May 26, 2026, the examination for admission to the Public Onassis Public Schools (PPS) will be conducted.
The six-digit code of each student, as well as the examination centre to which they will have to go for the examination, has been communicated to parents, guardians and students via SMS. It is also noted that the allotment of students to the Examination Centres is posted on the EC website with reference to the application code of the candidate.
Basic instructions for the examinations
1. Their identity document which must be valid (identity card or passport for candidates over 12 years of age, otherwise a valid identity card from a C.I.P. for those under 12 years of age).
2. Printed application form from the application platform, which includes the six-digit candidate code and the Examination Centre.
Candidates should enter the Examination Centre at least one hour before the start of the written test, by 9:00 am, when the entrance to the Examination Centre closes. The time for the written test will be 10.00 a.m. It is worth noting that candidates arrive and leave the EC under the responsibility of their guardians.

Candidates are allowed to bring a water bottle, dark blue or black ballpoint pen and geometric instruments. No corrector, eraser, or calculator is allowed. Mobile phones and smart watches are not allowed and will be handed over to the invigilators on entering the hall fully switched off and kept with the name of the candidate.

The student should not write his/her name on the answer sheet or anything else, except his/her six-digit code as a candidate in the prescribed space (boxes), which they carefully copy from the printed application form. Also, the students in each answer should black out the entire space of a single circle of what they judge to be the correct answer, so that it can be visually read by the special machine used for automated correction of the answers.
The duration of the written test is:
– 150 minutes for Standard High Schools and Public Onassis High Schools; and
– 225 minutes for Standard Church High Schools,
– 180 minutes for Model High Schools and Public Onassis High Schools
– 270 minutes for Standard Church High Schools.
For candidates with special educational needs, the examination time is increased by 45 minutes.
A possible withdrawal is given one hour (60 minutes) after the start of the written test.
The test items
Candidates for admission to the first grade of Standard and/or Onassis Gymnasium are assessed on skills acquired during their time at Primary School, related to the comprehension of Greek language texts and Mathematics. In Greek Language Comprehension, students’ abilities in understanding written texts of various types and content, as well as in the use of basic grammatical and syntactic phenomena are tested. Mathematics tests students’ abilities in understanding and solving problems mainly of everyday life but also problems involving simple arithmetic operations.
Candidates for admission to A’ Lykeio Standard and/or Onassis Lykeio are assessed on knowledge and skills acquired during their studies at Gymnasium, related to the comprehension of Greek language texts and Mathematics. In the field of comprehension of Greek language texts, skills in understanding written texts of various types and content, as well as in the use of basic grammatical and syntactic phenomena are tested. In the field of Mathematics, students’ abilities in understanding and solving problems of everyday life as well as numerical, algebraic, geometric and statistical knowledge and skills are tested.
Candidates for admission to the Standard Ecclesiastical High Schools are assessed on knowledge and skills acquired during their primary schooling, related to the comprehension of Greek language texts, mathematics and additionally, religion. The examination in Greek Language and Mathematics is conducted in common subjects with candidates for admission to Standard Schools. Specifically in Religious Studies, students’ skills in identifying basic elements of the Orthodox Christian faith and church life are tested and the subjects of the Religious Studies subject are accompanied by supporting material, such as texts and exercises, which are used by the candidates.
Candidates for admission to Standard Ecclesiastical Lyceums are assessed on knowledge and skills acquired during their secondary schooling in Greek language comprehension, mathematics and religious studies. The Greek language and Mathematics examination is conducted on common subjects with candidates for admission to Standard Schools. In Religious Studies, students’ ability to identify key elements of the Orthodox Christian faith and church life is tested.
For the introduction to the Standards, the total number of questions is 40: twenty (20) for Mathematics and twenty (20) for Greek Language Comprehension.
For admission to the Standard Church Schools, the total number of questions is 60: Twenty (20) for Mathematics, twenty (20) for Reading Comprehension and twenty (20) for Religious Studies.
All questions are multiple choice and the total number of marks is 100 for Standard and 150 for Standard Church Schools.
As far as the test for admission to the Public Onassis Schools is concerned, the total number of questions is 50: Twenty-five (25) for Mathematics and twenty-five (25) for Greek Language Comprehension. In this test, too, all questions are multiple choice.
