An ATM in Oinofita was targeted by unknown persons, with the loot of the perpetrators estimated to be close to 100,000 euros.
According to LamiaReport, the incident occurred at around 4am on Saturday morning when the perpetrators caused an explosion at an ATM installed in a supermarket in the area.
After the blast, they removed a large sum of money and disappeared before authorities arrived at the scene.
They left behind hundreds of burnt banknotes, totalling about 2,500 euros, which were destroyed by the powerful explosion.
The preliminary investigation has been undertaken by the Department for the Investigation and Detection of Crimes of Thebes, with the authorities examining CCTV footage and witnesses in order to identify the perpetrators and determine how they escaped.
