Perpetrators attempted to defraud a 38-year-old man by pretending to be employees of the DEDO, but were caught red-handed as they turned up at a predetermined spot to collect money and valuables from the would-be victim.
The 38-year-old man seems to have realised that it was a scam, so he immediately informed the police. The case was recorded the previous 24 hours in a village in the municipality of Lagada, in Thessaloniki.
Three residents, aged 27, 33 and 43, were arrested as perpetrators, police said. In addition, the vehicle they used to travel to the meeting point was seized and the investigation revealed that it was linked to two other fraud cases — one in Thessaloniki and one in Katerini.
