The mother of the 5-year-old boy who was left alone at home in Thessaloniki yesterday and was throwing objects into the street from the balcony of the 6th floor apartment of a block of flats on Vasileos Georgiou Avenue has been released.
The Autopharo Monomial Plenary Court of Thessaloniki, where the 25-year-old woman was referred to trial, postponed the hearing of the case and suspended her detention. She is being prosecuted for exposure of a minor, according to the charge brought against her by the prosecutor of the first instance.
According to APE-MPA, sero-interrogators, the 25-year-old defendant allegedly claimed that she left the house for a short time in order to visit a doctor, having previously notified a woman to watch the minor; however, she did not show up, leaving her son alone.
For nearly an hour, the juvenile was hurling various items onto the sidewalk, including rocks, a vacuum cleaner, a mop bucket, a deck of cards, board games, etc. Police officers arrived at the scene and managed to gain access to the apartment from the roof of the apartment building, as the front door was locked.
When they approached the child and ensured his physical integrity, they managed to stop the action, which, however, did not result in any injuries. His mother was taken to the police station when she returned home and was eventually arrested. On the order of the prosecutor, the boy was entrusted to the temporary custody of a person in his friendly environment.
