Without the legal specifications, a vending machine for cannabis products was operating in a public place in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, resulting in the arrest of the 47-year-old legal representative and manager of the company that had installed it.

This particular machine was found last 24 hours under the microscope of targeted police checks, aimed at combating drug trafficking, in the context of implementing a special operational planning of actions, as stated in a statement by EL.AS.

According to the same statement, it was found that the machine allowed uncontrolled access to cannabis products, even to minors, as it did not have an electronic age identification system. Moreover, transactions were conducted exclusively using a bank card and did not accept coins and banknotes.

A total of 362 packages containing cannabis flowers, chocolate extract and pre-wrapped high concentration cigarettes were seized from the machine’s display cases. The packages bore indications that they were legal products, which is being investigated as part of the preliminary investigation.

A case file was formed by the Department of Direct Drug Intervention of the Thessaloniki Police and Crime Investigation Department.
