A case file for summary proceedings regarding the manufacture, processing, or distribution of harmful drugs was filed against a Turkish national wanted under an Interpol Red Notice, who was arrested this morning by officers from the Northern Greece Organized Crime Division
To locate him, information was utilized, as well as the channels of the Directorate of International Police Cooperation of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, specifically the Interpol Department, while the police operation involved forces from the Department for the Suppression of Crimes Against Life and Property, the Department for Combating Trafficking in Persons and Goods, and the Department of Intelligence and Special Operations.
Specifically, the 43-year-old was wanted by the authorities in his home country to serve a long prison sentence for escape, illegal possession and carrying of firearms, trafficking in illegal firearms, aggravated assault, forgery, threatening with a weapon, disobedience, and conducting illegal gambling.
Meanwhile, during the search, which was conducted in the presence of a judicial officer, 5,342 tablets of neurological and psychiatric medications were found in a backpack inside his room and confiscated, which led to his arrest, as well as a cell phone.
Furthermore, a case file was opened against another Turkish national, as two obviously counterfeit vehicle license plates were found and confiscated during a search of his home.
The arrested individual will be brought before the competent prosecuting authorities.
