A body believed to belong to the 54-year-old man who was allegedly murdered and then dumped in the Loudia River was found Friday morning.
Two men, aged 44 and 43, have been arrested in the case and charged with the murder. According to what they allegedly claimed, the fatal altercation was triggered by a case of pigeon theft, for which they suspected the victim to be a suspect.
The chronicle of the murder
According to the National Police, the crime took place on Saturday night in the area of Malgaron – Kyminon, outside Thessaloniki.
As stated in the police statement, the 44-year-old, with the help of the 43-year-old, allegedly fatally shot the 54-year-old. The two accused then allegedly placed the body in the trunk of a vehicle and dumped it in the Loudia River.
Police investigations
A major police operation involving officers from the Life and Property Crime Squad, Delta Crime Squad, Delta Police Department and the IPCU followed.
During the investigations:
- a firearm shell was found and seized,
- bloodstains were found,
- while quantities of drugs were found in the residences of those involved.

Specifically, the following were seized:
- 87.84 grams of methadone,
- 11.30 grams of cocaine,
- 10.67 grams of heroin,
- 4.57 grams of cannabis,
- a precision electronic scale,
- and 230 euros in cash.
At the same time, authorities located the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, in which fake license plates had been placed.
Heavy criminal history
According to police, the 43-year-old already had a pending conviction at the Court of Criminal Appeal, with a remaining sentence of more than seven years in prison for attempted murder and drug cases.
