Authorities arrested a 44-year-old man after a serious incident of domestic violence in Thermi, Thessaloniki, involving his elderly parents.
According to reports, the man visited the home of his parents, aged 73 and 67, where he threatened them and physically assaulted his father.
A short time later he allegedly took a shotgun from a storage room and tried to enter the house again. However, officers from the Department of Crime Prevention and Suppression immediately arrived at the scene after the 73-year-old activated the panic button and subdued him.
The police investigation revealed that the previous day the 44-year-old had also caused an incident at home, threatening his parents, damaging three parked vehicles and setting fire to a storage area.
At the time of his arrest, small quantities of drugs, a metal grater with cannabis residue and a smoking pipe were found. At the same time, 25 shotgun shells were seized, and it was found that he was illegally possessing the shotgun as his licence had expired.
