A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 3 years in prison for driving a private car at more than twice the speed limit on the Thessaloniki – Edessa highway, while making dangerous manoeuvres.
The Single Plenary Court of Thessaloniki found him guilty of dangerous driving, while the sentence was decided not to be suspended or converted into a fine. He was released pending his appeal.
The court further ordered that his driving licence be revoked for six months.
The 22-year-old youth was last night spotted driving at 162km/h, when the maximum permitted speed limit at that location is 70km/h. Police officers of the Traffic Police of Chalkidona stopped him and arrested him (he was also imposed an administrative fine).
He said in his apology that he was returning from work using his father’s car.
