A 44-year-old man was sentenced to a total of 16 years in prison for sexual abuse of a 14-year-old mentally handicapped girl, who sat in the dock of the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki.
The Court found him guilty of abusing a person incapable of resisting a sexual act and sexual acts with a minor (12 years of age or older).
The case was uncovered in August last year and was investigated by authorities following a complaint by the minor’s mother.
Pre-questioningly, the victim had been examined by experts, describing what had happened.
The 44-year-old, originally from Palestine, denied the charges. After the court’s verdict, he was returned to prison, where he was being held temporarily after pleading to the investigating judge.
