The dangerous custom will finally take place at Vrontados in Chios on the evening of the Resurrection, as it was finally decided that this year’s rocket war will take place as usual.
The decision to hold the rocket war in Chios and especially in Vrontados was made after days of uncertainty, mainly due to injuries sustained during the preparation. Injuries from an explosion at a place where rockets were being made made made many people fearful and wonder how safe the custom is.
According to the schedule, at 18:00 in the afternoon of Holy Saturday there is to be a joint parade of the St. Mark’s and Panagia Erithiani crews, starting from Petrocaravo. This move indicates that the final preparation before the evening of the Resurrection is essentially beginning, politischios.gr reports.
Then the crews will go to the places from where the firing will take place, so that the rocket war can be organized as planned. Some pauses have also been planned for security reasons, so that people can move more easily: from 22:30 to 23:00 and again at 00:15, so that the faithful can go to the churches.
This decision ended the tension of the previous days, where there were many discussions, reactions and gatherings of residents who were concerned about whether the custom would take place and under what circumstances.
Now, the focus is on making sure everything runs smoothly on the night of the Resurrection, with the aim of holding the custom without any problems and safely for everyone.
