The façade of the Greek Parliament building was decorated tonight as part of the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus. This symbolic gesture is a minimal tribute and a sign of mourning for the victims of the Genocide during the period 1914-1923.
This initiative, which was implemented at the request of the 475 primary Pontic associations of the Panhellenic Panhellenic Federation, is the culmination of their efforts to:
– The international recognition of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus, Asia Minor and all Christian communities in the East.
– Preventing the recurrence of similar crimes that, even today, poison humanity.
The facade of the building of the Greek Parliament was illuminated with the official logo of the Genocide “G” and as stated in the announcement of the Confederation of the Federation of the Pampean Federation: “The illumination of the Greek Parliament with the “G” is a sign of mourning and a minimal tribute. It is a gesture with a particularly strong emotional charge that touches the hearts of all Greeks.”
May 19 is a landmark day for Greeks of Pontian origin everywhere, the most important in terms of historical symbolism. It is a day charged with emotional associations, as the 353,000 Greeks of Pontos, victims of the Genocide, are commemorated and honoured.
