The 58-year-old man who on Sunday morning, May 10, opened fire with an Uzi automatic weapon in a bar in Kallithea, injuring the 43-year-old wife of the shop owner, is being sent to prison after his plea.

The man is charged with felony counts of attempted murder and carrying a submachine gun, as well as misdemeanors involving weapons possession, unlawful possession of ammunition, unnecessary shooting, and two counts of weapons possession involving a knife and pepper spray.

During his apology, the 58-year-old appeared to claim that he acted under the influence of a very large amount of alcohol and that he became intoxicated and began shooting without homicidal intent with the gun he admitted to possessing illegally. He reportedly stated that this particular store was “his hangout” and so he went there very often.
