At this moment, the 20-year-old perpetrator of the murder of the 27-year-old son of the senior officer of the National Police, who was killed on Wednesday night at the Asymatou Park in Agios Dimitrios, as well as his 18-year-old friend and their two girlfriends, who are accused of aiding and abetting, are being brought to the Piraeus Maritime Court.

The arrestees are being taken to the Maritime Court, as the 20-year-old, who is charged with intentional homicide, illegal carrying and use of a weapon, is serving in the Navy and there the cases will be separated for the other three.

It is reported that a search was earlier conducted at the 20-year-old’s home where the knife used to commit the crime was found.

According to police sources, the 20-year-old sailor during his examination at the Homicide Division of the Organised Crime Branch appeared remorseful, attributing the crime to a bad moment. “I didn’t mean to kill him,” he said. “I wish time could turn back,” he said.

The 18-year-old, for his part, who was present at the crime said he didn’t know his friend had a knife with him and didn’t have time to stop him.

The homicide was attributed by the police investigation to a love rivalry, as the 27-year-old had previously had a relationship with the girl, but they had broken up some time ago, which he could not get over and was communicating with her, while the girl had in the meantime established a relationship with the 20-year-old sailor.

As the preliminary investigation shows, on the fatal evening the two men made an appointment at Asymatou Park to discuss the matter, where they went in different cars, the 27-year-old alone and the 20-year-old with his 18-year-old friend.

There they had an argument and got into an altercation and during the fight the 20-year-old pulled out a knife and struck the 27-year-old once in the heart, fatally injuring him.

After the crime, the 20-year-old and 18-year-old met up with their girlfriends and went to a house to calm down until the offender decided to surrender with his lawyer, after his mother intervened, as he had already been identified by the police investigation, and the other three were arrested for aiding and abetting.
