An interesting discussion was held by Thanasis Vassilopoulos and Nikos Gritsis on the show “Asteriskονη” on the evening of the Resurrection (11/4), with the clarinet virtuoso sharing personal stories from his long musical career.
“I don’t carry my ‘race’ on my back, I’ll tell you why. Because, every person is different and I judge people by their actions. Sure, race has a talent, as far as music, arts are concerned. Of course, some people could pay a little more attention to us. But on the other hand, I think that we are also responsible, because we have become complacent,” says Thanasis Vassilopoulos.
“We need to fight, each from his own point of view. But, the struggle must come with culture. Sometimes people ask me what the difference is between the Roma and the Jews, who are also a race that is being persecuted. The difference is the book, it’s the letters,” he points out.
“I really wanted to learn to read, because my mother used to watch some series and she didn’t know what was going on. And so I decided, I decided to beg a man I saw in a pizza shop, I said, “Can you take me to school, please, please, please?”,” Thanasis Vassilopoulos recounts at another point in the conversation.
