Pigi Devetzi shared the special experience of her trip to Jerusalem, referring to her decision to be baptized in the Jordan River, following the example of Christ.
The Olympic champion, as she revealed on Happy Day, maintains the tradition of posting photos every Easter of that moment, which she describes as particularly important for her personal journey.
Speaking to the show’s camera, she explained that her faith was further strengthened after the car accident she had last December, stressing that she believes she was saved with the help of God.
She described her baptism experience as deeply spiritual, noting the importance for her of connecting with her faith and experiences of that time.
As she said about both her baptism and the car accident: “I have visited Jerusalem to worship twice in my life and I got the opportunity to go to Jordan to be baptized as Christ was then. And because I was saved, if you remember St. Nicholas, from an accident, where my car was wrecked and I was not hurt, I think that every year I should post these pictures of what I experienced and I think I had the protection of both God, of course, and St. Nicholas. And I wanted to do that because I think our religion is very important, I mean I think faith is very important in our lives.”
