Scenes of horror… unfolded in the early hours of the morning in Gastouni, targeting – according to initial reports – the new shop that was preparing to open by the kiosk owner, who a few months ago was at the centre of a savage beating incident.
The offenders allegedly smashed the front of the shop using a bench, forced their way inside and then set fire to the warehouse, causing severe damage. The incident has raised an alarm among the police authorities.
A strong force of the National Police is in Gastouni, while the Director of the Ilia Police Directorate has also gone to the site. The case is particularly sensational, as the same professional had experienced a real nightmare about two months ago.
On the afternoon of Saturday, February 21, 2026, according to a report by patrisnews.com, a group of about 20 people had shown up at his booth after an incident involving a minor allegedly attempting to remove product, and the situation got out of hand.
The kiosk owner, his son and another citizen who tried to intervene were punched and the kiosk was also damaged.
After that incident, the professional had decided to shut down the stand, stating that he feared for his family and that it was no longer worth continuing under such circumstances.
And while everything seemed to indicate that he was attempting to make a fresh start, the new strike on the shop he was preparing reopens the cycle of fear and resentment in Gastouni.
The investigation is in full swing, with the National Police seeking security camera footage, witnesses and any evidence that may lead to the identification of the perpetrators.
