The revelations about the murder of 43-year-old Eleftheria Giakoumakis in Crete are shocking.
After the attack, he crashed his motorbike, took a taxi back to his home and then returned to the scene of the crime. He drove the woman’s car with her body in the back seats and abandoned her in a field. Later, about eight hours after the crime, he appears to have used the victim’s mobile phone while sending an automated message to her son.

The woman left her house at 11:02 and arrived at the spot at 11:06. The assailant shot the unfortunate woman once in the head and put her face down in the back seat of her car. A motorcycle crash followed at 11:08 and, at approximately 12:00, he was found injured in a cafeteria on the Heraklion-Miros provincial road, where he called a taxi to return home. He told the taxi driver that he had been injured by his daughter’s horse.
After changing clothes at home, the 39-year-old returned to the chapel in his Smart car, took the woman’s car and transported the body to a field near Agia Varvara. At 13:13 he stopped at a petrol station, hailed a taxi and returned to pick up his car, leaving at 14:00. The 44-year-old woman’s body was found by authorities at 17:20.
