Three people allegedly involved in the murder case at the Asymatou Park in Agios Dimitrios are being brought before the Magistrate’s Court today, accused of harbouring a criminal.
The suspects are an 18-year-old friend of the alleged perpetrator and two 20-year-old women, who are accused of providing assistance to the 20-year-old after the crime.
The main accused, a 20-year-old sailor, is expected to enter a plea on Tuesday at the Piraeus Maritime Court, facing charges of manslaughter with intent, as well as unlawful carrying and use of a weapon. The knife used in the attack was found on the roof of his home.
According to the evidence so far, after the incident, the offender allegedly continued to travel without immediately surrendering, using both his parents’ car and a rental vehicle.
New testimony sheds light on the events of the fateful evening. As it turns out, the mother of the perpetrator’s partner attempted to call her at home without knowing what had happened, and the act was subsequently revealed. According to the 20-year-old’s lawyer, Nikos Ioannou, the young woman was found in a state of shock and gave a statement to the authorities.
Statements say that bystanders learned of the 27-year-old’s death over the internet, which caused panic and emotional breakdown.
The accused’s partner reportedly said she could not forgive the act and urged him to tell the truth, while expressing doubts about whether he was alone when he committed the crime.
The case remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to investigate all aspects of the case.
