The details are revealing about the car crash in Rhodes where a 57-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter died, while police arrested the 44-year-old driver of the other car.

More specifically, the 44-year-old man was charged with a felony for dangerous driving and serial manslaughter by negligence in the Rhodes accident. He maintains from the outset that he was driving normally in his current lane and that he did not run a red light before hitting the two women’s vehicle.

“He tells us that I didn’t run any red lights and there was one… he cut me off and that he reversed from the opposite direction. That’s what he tells us. We’re hearing things now, I don’t know. I can’t say now. Two souls were lost. The bad moment was that moment right there. “Was he running?”. He said to me, “I wasn’t running. The light was green when I passed. I don’t know what happened.” That’s the thing he told me. Now I’m waiting to see what the police will do,” the 44-year-old’s sister told Live News.

“He has two children. He has two businesses. He is a professional driver. It’s not to say he was an unqualified driver. He just likes speed. He likes it because he goes to races, he races,” he stressed, adding:

“He’s a very experienced driver. Nobody intended for this to happen. I’m not the one in charge of being able to judge, let’s say, how he was driving and what happened. Neither are the girls, and we wouldn’t want them to die and we wouldn’t want them to die if what happened happened. Because they too were well known here in Rhodes. I knew them too. But from there on, whatever I say will be unfair.”

“He has a very, very strong, racing car. It wasn’t intentional,” he said.

“If I trusted one person at the wheel it was Maria’s”

“If you told me that this girl went down a step and was killed, I would believe it. If I trusted one person’s steering wheel all the years we’ve been sister friends and best friends, it was Maria’s,” commented a sister friend of the victim.

He had a car accident two years ago

As Live News reveals, the 44-year-old was also in a car accident two years ago, resulting in injuries to his then passenger.

“We were out for a drive and his car went off. I was in the car with him. We were just going for a drive and unfortunately he hit the gas and the car left him,” the man said.
