The competent authorities have located and rescued 35 migrants in a dinghy in the sea area 49 nautical miles south-southeast of Gavdos.
According to the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, the operation was carried out under the coordination of the Integrated Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (EKSED), following the detection of the dinghy by a Bahamian-flagged freighter.
The 35 foreigners were safely intercepted and are to be transported by a Coast Guard vessel to the port of Agia Galini for the reception and registration procedures.
