A 24-hour nationwide strike on all categories of ships will be launched by seafarers on Friday 1 May 2026, following a unanimous decision by the administration of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO), as part of the Labour Day celebrations.
The strike mobilization will begin at 00:01 on Friday and will end at 24:00 on the same day, affecting all ferry and other maritime routes.
As noted, in a statement, the Federation, the main axes of the demands remain the protection of human life at sea, ensuring decent working conditions and strengthening the institution of collective bargaining, with the renewal and signing of Collective Labour Agreements.
At the same time, PNO focuses on the need to maintain and upgrade the public and free character of maritime education, stressing that adjustments are required to the rapid technological developments in the sector.
As part of its broader demands, the Federation also calls for the strengthening of public health and education, as well as the restoration of the losses suffered by retired seafarers in previous years.
