Valent Sunday set the tone for the start of the Easter season, with commercial traffic on the country’s roads hitting red.
The most typical example is Ermou, which was “filled” with thousands of citizens and tourists from early morning.
Some with full bags, others doing market research and many enjoying their stroll through the “heart” of the capital.

Shop opening hours during Holy Week
From tomorrow, Holy Monday, we enter the intensive rhythm of the festive opening hours.
Shops will operate continuously from 09:00 to 21:00 (in Thessaloniki from 10:00), giving the opportunity for last-minute shopping until Maundy Thursday.
On Good Friday, the market will “traditionally” open later, from 13:00 to 19:00, due to the religious observance of the day.
On Holy Saturday, shops will be open from morning to afternoon (09:00 to 15:00 in Athens and 10:00 to 16:00 in Thessaloniki).
Finally, shops will be closed on the Sunday and Easter Monday holidays.
