The investigation into the death of 19-year-old Myrto in Kefalonia takes on a new dimension after an autopsy was conducted in the hotel room where she was found dead.

The procedure took place at noon on Saturday and lasted about an hour and a quarter, with the participation of the investigator, police officers and the family’s legal representative. Despite a careful examination of the scene, no conclusive evidence emerged to shed light on the circumstances of the death.

One key reason appears to be the fact that the 23-year-old defendant had already intervened at the scene before authorities arrived, something he has admitted. However, investigators have accurately recorded the layout of the room, as well as the entry and exit points, and have also expanded into neighboring rooms.

At the same time, the investigator has moved to order the declassification of both the bank accounts and mobile phones of all those involved, and toxicology tests have been requested. Particular attention is being paid to the digital data, which may reveal crucial information about the accused’s movements and contacts before the incident.

The central question remains how the 23-year-old managed to convince the young woman to go with him to the room in question.

Witnesses close to the 19-year-old said the accused had allegedly developed intense jealousy towards her, especially after an argument that had taken place a few weeks earlier. In addition, he was allegedly the one who introduced her to a 66-year-old man, whom she had not initially disclosed to the authorities.

Contradictions are also found in his statements, as while he claimed he was with her on a bench, CCTV footage shows he was moving alone.

Authorities are continuing to investigate, with developments in the coming days seen as crucial to solving the case.
