Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announces new measures to provide economic support to society from the effects of the war in the Middle East.

The measures will be specified at 13:30 at a press conference by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Deputy Minister Thanos Petralias.

Specifically, the Prime Minister announced:

Announce a package of 4 targeted measures for April-May, amounting to 300 million

1. Subsidise diesel fuel in the distribution network at 16 cents/litre – benefit to the final price (including VAT) at 20 cents/litre.

2. We issue a Digital Fuel Card to support against rising petrol prices – to be used at petrol stations, public transport and taxis.

>

Average support at 36 cents/litre – on an average monthly consumption of 70 litres, €50 per two months on the mainland and €60 on the islands.

3. To relieve farmers from steep increases in fertiliser prices, we subsidise 15% of the amount of their purchase documents.

4. We establish compensation to ferry companies linked to mandatory discounts on tickets to keep prices at last year’s levels.

The cost of the initiative will be covered by public funds, and by a tax on the profits of “casino-type” online gambling players, to provide 100 million.

Measures that prudent fiscal management allows, strengthen social mounds in turbulent times, and do not jeopardise what we have achieved.

We are keeping reserves if the global economic situation deteriorates significantly – the government remains and will remain on the side of every Greek
