The mother of a minor allegedly involved in burglary and extensive vandalism at a school complex in Glyfada has been brought to justice in a self-incriminating case.
According to authorities, the perpetrators broke through the main entrance of the school and entered the interiors, causing significant damage. A sum of money intended for a school trip, estimated at about 8,000 euros, was taken from the administration office.
At the same time, six computers were stolen from the teachers’ room, while serious damage was recorded to equipment and facilities.
The school’s management is expected to take legal action for the loss of the money, while the Municipality of Glyfada is initiating actions both to restore the damage and to seek responsibility.
Mayor George Papanikolaou said the municipality will exhaust every legal means to identify and punish those responsible, noting that, in the case of minors, the responsibility will be borne by their parents or guardians. At the same time, he assured that the rehabilitation work would proceed immediately so that the school would be open for business as usual when classes resume.
