The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs, Domna Michaelidou, met with MPs from the prefecture of Magnesia to discuss the possibility of granting space in the Agrias Children’s Village to meet the needs of the Association of Parents, Guardians, Carers and Friends of Autistic People in the prefecture of Magnesia.
The discussion focused on the creation of a Supported Living House for people with autism, with the aim of enhancing the care, social integration and daily support of the beneficiaries and their families.
The Minister stressed that the Ministry of Social Cohesion and the Family supports initiatives that respond to the real needs of persons with disabilities and their families and will support the effort, within the framework of its competences and provided that the institutional, technical and operational conditions are met.
Domna Michaelidou said: “We discussed the possibility of utilizing space in Pedopolis Agria for the creation of an Assisted Living Home to support people with autism and their families. For a family raising a child with autism, support cannot be theoretical. It needs structures, care, security in everyday life and a perspective for the future. The request is particularly important because it comes with bipartisan support from the MPs of Magnesia and expresses a real need of the local society.
