Metropolitan Panteleimon of Ptolemais in Egypt has been suspended indefinitely by Theodore, Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
The decision comes following the Metropolitan’s arrest, as he was accused of committing indecent acts by exposing his genitals to passersby in the Petralona area.
The Metropolitan of Ptolemaida was taken to the Acropolis Crime Investigation and Prosecution Department, where charges were filed against him for the offense of sexual assault.
Below is the statement from the Patriarchate of Alexandria:
“The Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa announces that, by the sacred decision of His Most Divine Beatitude, our Pope and Patriarch Theodore II, His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Ptolemais, following the tragic event that took place in Athens, is suspended indefinitely until the matter is clarified.
