Alexandros Giotopoulos has returned to Korydallos Prison following the reversal of the decision that had allowed for his release. The Fifth Criminal Division of the Supreme Court upheld the appeal against the ruling of the Piraeus Court of Appeals, which had approved the request for the release of the convicted leader of the terrorist organization “17 November.” This development led to the immediate resumption of proceedings for his return to prison.
According to reports, Alexandros Giotopoulos went to Korydallos Prison yesterday afternoon, Monday, June 15, to be taken back into custody. However, the court order could not be immediately enforced due to procedural issues related to the issuance of the new detention order.
Until the necessary procedures were completed, he remained in custody at the Attica General Police Directorate. Today, he was taken to the Piraeus Appeals Prosecutor’s Office for the necessary legal proceedings and subsequently transferred to Korydallos Prison, where he was returned to the special detention wing.
