Guest on Rainbow Mermaids was Maria Kitsu, for a revealing interview. The well-known actress spoke about the difficult situations she experienced at a young age in her home and at the end she burst into tears…
“I remember one incident, we were with my boyfriend, he was walking me home and my father saw us, who had already threatened me,” Maria Kitsou said at first.
Maria Kitsu added: “There was some beating.
We went to the police. It was a shock. But I was used to serious incidents at home. I didn’t have the freedom. At that time I left home. I went to a cousin of mine. I had tried leaving earlier, when I was 17.
I had gone to an aunt who had started telling me that my parents were right, while I was telling her what was going on. I was asking for help. Unfortunately there was no Smile of the Child and all these helplines back then. My relatives were callous people. What saved me was that I was talking to my girlfriends and friends.
I wasn’t hiding it inside. I didn’t swallow it. I was talking, telling what was happening to me, what they were doing to me, what they were saying to me. My brother, who didn’t talk about it and kept it inside, it was harder.”
Finally, when asked “if you had little Maria in front of you right now and you had one thing to say to her, what would you say to her?”, Maria Kitsu replied, “It will pass, it won’t always be like this” and burst into tears.
