International Museum Day today and the Acropolis Museum will be open from 9am to 5pm with free entry to all exhibition areas.
On Museum Day, the Museum will participate for the first time this year in the international Piano City Athens Festival, with a piano recital by Manos Kitsikopoulos on the second floor balcony overlooking the Hall of Ancient Statues.
For the Acropolis Museum, the versatile pianist has chosen a program of his favorite works as well as his own transcriptions for solo piano.
Museum visitors early in the afternoon had the opportunity to hear favorites from Piazzolla’s tango pieces, Chopin’s nocturnes, miniatures by Satie and songs by other well-known composers.
