Lakis Gavalas gave a new television interview where he said, among other things, that he is going to make a pass at the popular Netflix series “Emily in Paris.”
The well-known designer and GNTM judge still said on Monday (04.05.2026) on the show “Buongiorno” that he will be in the new cycle of the fashion reality show that starts filming in a few days. In addition to “Emily in Paris”, Lakis Gavalas also mentioned the misunderstandings he had with Marina Stavraki and Anna Vissi.
“Seven decades I’ve been on the stage now. I’m 74! Since I was a four-year-old kid… Do you know why I threw away the pacifier early? Because I didn’t have a nice case to put it in! I’m in school, of course, and at the University of Cyprus, of course. And the kids are now preparing a show on May 17 at the Smokehouse for Fashion Week. It’s fantastic,” Lakis Gavalas said at first.
“They are coming to film Emily in Paris in Mykonos from May 12 to 27. (ed. I’ll be making a stopover). They said to me ‘You don’t have a role, but we want you to say hello’. I know the producer,” he revealed about the popular Netflix series.
“Television-wise I’m on GNTM, we start in about a dozen days. A GNTM that I think is going to be exciting. I’ve signed up, Iliana Papageorgiou, Genevieve Mazari and I think Betty Maggira will be there. The truth is that the dates we’re filming coincide with Eurovision where they should be there. So I think it’s a practical issue that can change the days of filming,” Lakis Gavalas also said.
On GNTM he said further: “Iliana will already present. If we were three boys on the panel, crazy sisters, we would get comments and it would click! Now that we’re serious, you don’t get anything. So then when there are two women on the set, you stare at them. From there, I said we should have boys and girls who are the current breath of fashion. And I’m old! Girls used to be the curly-haired ones who crossed their legs. Now they’re different, they’re doing campaigns… And the boys are thinner, they wear makeup, because makeup sells a lot to men. This format is old, it comes from outside, we don’t create it, so we have to bring in a new breath of fresh air. I want the feminine boy to be more straight and the straight boy to be more feminine! The girl doesn’t have to have big breasts and a big butt anymore. These are cardassianoids, all from Katakolo! We don’t want capes! We want straight ones.”
About a misunderstanding he had with Marina Stavraki, Lakis Gavalas said: “Marina Stavraki is my friend! I don’t know the partner at all. I said it for the bags as a joke! Because Marina had admitted on her own that she has fake bags and she shops… I say, keeping monkey bags is not a nice thing, especially of big companies. But since she says “I’m helping the trade” and I say through humor “I knew about fake bags in Turkey! And about fake loves!”
“Anna Vissi was misunderstood because I said the hat she put on while singing didn’t match! You can’t put the Dolce & Gabbana outfit on her. Even though I appreciate them, Anna is a goddess! But she was wronged. That’s how I made my review. I told her and she said “you don’t know art”. What art? She put on that hat and I went to the concert afterwards and as soon as I saw it I said “I’m going out for a beer, I don’t like to see Anna like that”. What’s wrong with that? Where am I lying?” he then said of another misunderstanding he had with Anna Vissi.
“I don’t care. When an artist wants to be a fashion icon, she has to take criticism! I’m not saying anything bad, I admire the song. But visually? I think she’s being unfair! She’s a tremendous performer, she has a dazzling personality,” he added.
At the same time, Lakis Gavalas clarified what he meant when he said he would get an 850 euro pension.
“I said I said a joke… They are preparing my papers, I know that the pensions are at most 850. And I say “on the day?”. For a joke of course! And they started downstairs “you didn’t work, you didn’t do”. I said “man, look how much I gave to the civil service over the years!” I also said “that money I was going to get, I was going to give it to a charity fund”. But this was never written! It was only written that I want a pension of 850 euros a day,” said Lakis Gavalas.
