The end of Sia Kosioni’s long-standing collaboration with SKAI has come to an end, as on Friday evening (8/5) the journalist presented her last main newscast after 20 years of presence at the station.

The anchorwoman was visibly emotional as she bid farewell to viewers and colleagues, thanking the audience for the trust they have shown in her over the years.

In her farewell message, she reflected on her journey at the station, noting that she started at the age of 26 and is completing this chapter at 46, referring to a “beautiful journey” full of important moments of information in difficult times for Greece and the world.

She stressed that she has always treated viewers with respect, dedication to journalistic ethics and loyalty to her personal principles, and thanked both the station’s ownership and her colleagues for their support and cooperation over the years.

After the end of the show, speaking to reporters waiting for her outside the studio, she described her departure as a deeply emotional “uprooting”, noting that she felt the need to put aside the journalistic “mask” for a while and openly express her feelings.

Rumours of her departure had been intensifying since Friday morning, with her later confirming them through a radio show on the station.

In a statement, SKAI praised the contribution of Sia Kosioni to the channel’s credibility and news identity, making special reference to her ethics, integrity and journalistic judgment.
