Assaults on bus drivers and other public transport drivers are becoming more and more frequent. This time, an electric bus driver in Chania was beaten up.
In more detail, the attack took place last Friday night (17.03.2026) inside the bus parking area at the former Markopoulou camp in Chania as the driver reported that a hooded man beat him savagely just before he started the last route of his shift.
The 50-year-old driver was immediately taken to Chania hospital to receive first aid.
There doctors proceeded to stitch him up as his head injuries were too deep.
Police are investigating all possibilities, not ruling out the possibility that the motive for the attack was due to personal differences.
