In view of the Holy Days of Easter, the Municipality of Heraklion and the Civil Protection and Municipal Police Department, with the main priority, as emphasized, the safety of citizens and visitors, appealed to avoid dangerous practices such as the use of fireworks and the creation of fireplaces.
As noted in a relevant statement, “the Municipal Police, in close cooperation with the Greek Police, the Fire Service and the Cleaning Service of the Municipality of Heraklion, will be on alert, carrying out intensive checks, in order for the faithful to celebrate the Holy Week safely.
The Deputy Mayor of Civil Protection and Municipal Police George Karantinos said in a statement, “During these Holy Days, the safety of citizens remains our priority. The Municipal Police in cooperation with the Greek Police will conduct intensive checks during the Holy Week for the safety of young and old. We appeal for the avoidance of the use of fireworks which unfortunately every year cause serious injuries. We wish everyone a Happy Resurrection and a Happy and Healthy New Year!”
