Eleni Zaroulia, former Golden Dawn MP, wife of Nikos Michaloliakos, is sent to prison, sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Court of Appeal that finally tried the criminal organisation.

E. Zaroulia spent the night at the Pefki Police Station, where she surrendered yesterday morning, following the decision of the Five-Member Criminal Court of Appeal not to commute her sentence to a fine, as requested by her defence.

The woman, who was convicted of participating in a criminal organization, was taken to the Court of Appeal this morning so that the prosecutor in charge could issue a prison order so that the former MP could be transferred to prison. According to reports, the former MP will be detained at the Elaiona store in Thebes.

The wife of the Golden Dawn leader was sentenced in the first instance to six years in prison and was granted a suspended sentence until the case is heard in the second instance.

The court of appeal reduced the former MP’s sentence by one year, but ordered the execution of its decision.

With the decision of the Court of Appeal, except for E. Zaroulia, George Dimou is sent to prison for complicity in the manslaughter of P. Fyssas and membership of a criminal organisation, Konstantinos Papadopoulos for attempted homicide against Egyptian fishermen and membership of a criminal organisation, and Georgios Skalkos for complicity in the homicide of P. Fyssas and membership of a criminal organisation. All three were sentenced to 7 years imprisonment, as at first instance.
