The data on the operation of the service shows that of the total number of beneficiaries who received their medication “at home”, 44% were in Attica, 12% in Thessaloniki, 15% in the island country and 29% in the rest of the Territory. Regarding the first month of distribution of high-cost medicines through private pharmacies, 63% were in Attica, 13% in Thessaloniki, 7% in the island country and 17% in the rest of the Territory.
Based on data for the second half of 2025 (1/7/2025 to 12/31/2025), the total number of unique beneficiaries (AMKA) who submitted a request for home delivery of high-cost medicines amounted to 53.604.
“As of 16/02/2026, the program of high-cost drug distribution by the EOPYY with the private pharmacy as the point of execution was extended, expanding the list of drugs already distributed in a similar way as early as 2020, while the procedure safeguards the patient’s personal data and consent to receive this service as in the home delivery of drugs. About 7,800 pharmacies nationwide are participating in the action, which have updated their data in the already existing EOPYY electronic platform.
The main additional quality features added by the new service are the following:
– Electronic tracking and management of the traceability of each pharmaceutical formulation from the submission of the request to the delivery to the individual beneficiary.
– Informing at each stage both beneficiaries and private pharmacists participating in the action, on the progress of the request for sending high-cost medicines through the special platform of EOPYY.
– Nationwide coverage of deliveries according to GDP’S (GoodDistribution Practices)
– Average delivery time of pharmaceutical preparations “at home” from the date of approval and pharmaceutical control of the request to delivery, 3.6 days for residents in Attica/Thessaloniki and 6 days for residents in the rest of the Territory”, says in detail in a post on X the Minister of Health who thanks the beneficiaries who embraced, chose and trusted the important innovative services of EOPYY.
“This support confirms the ongoing efforts of the Agency’s executives to further improve and enhance the services provided in order to improve the quality of life of patients,”
