The passenger of the cruise ship is negative to the hantavirus, who is being treated in quarantine at Attikon Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The information was conveyed on ERTnews by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis.

“He is negative to the chantavirus. He is in very good health,” the minister said. In fact, he explained that the decision for a 45-day quarantine at the hospital was taken in the context of the strictest implementation of the prescribed protocols, with the aim of maximum safety in view of the tourist season.

Georgiades thanked the Greek passenger because, as he noted, “this man is suffering a very great suffering and he is suffering it for all of us. Because the reason why we decided to follow the strictest version of the protocol and to keep him in quarantine for 45 days in the hospital, when he could have been quarantined at home, is because we told him that Greece is a tourist country. We have no way of supervising him at home. If we had a one-in-a-billion case of hantavirus in Greece at the start of the tourist season, it would be a factor of great damage to thousands of businesses, workers and the country. And to make us all feel more secure, we asked him to respect this protocol and he accepted immediately, he did not raise any objections.”

Also, Georgiades stressed that all measures have been taken and there is no need to worry. Hantavirus is not covid. “I read on the internet about new quarantines and mandatory masks. None of this is true, no such planning exists, let’s not exaggerate,” he concluded.
