Σχεδόν 55.000 euros from an elderly woman in Katerini, who was deceived by the “accountant” trick. After the immediate mobilization of ELAS two women and a man were arrested, in whose possession the money was found and returned to the victim.

According to police, an accomplice of the arrested men called the elderly woman pretending to be an accountant and convinced her that she had to hand over the money she kept in her house to a supposed partner for a “tax matter”.

The three persons involved were found in an area of Pieria in a private car and were arrested by police officers of the Katerini Sub-Directorate for the Investigation and Detection of Crimes, with the assistance of forces of the Traffic Police Department of the PATHE Pieria Motorways.

The money was found thoroughly hidden inside the vehicle. During a search of the car, police officers found the sum of 54,350 euros well hidden, which was returned to the elderly woman. At the same time, the vehicle and three mobile phones were seized.

The authorities’ investigation continues to identify the accomplice who made the phone call, as well as their possible involvement in other similar cases of elder fraud.
