A small material damage of 150 euros was the reason for a wild incident with beating and arrests, yesterday at noon on Great Monday (06.04.2026), in Volos.
According to gegonotanews.gr, it all started when a father and his son approached a 54-year-old man who was carrying out agricultural work on his plot in Almyros Volos. The official reason was to ask him to move his tractor, which was said to be blocking their way. The verbal confrontation, however, “got out of hand” immediately and his beating followed.
The heated argument resulted in the three men being grabbed, with the 54-year-old receiving several blows to the head and face. The offenders claim the scuffle escalated because the victim attempted to attack them with an iron.
The 54-year-old, who was taken to the Almyros Health Centre, testified that the attack was clearly premeditated. He said another incident was hidden behind the tractor pretext. More specifically, a few days ago, his brother had accidentally caused a small damage, worth only 150 euros, to the gutter of the perpetrators’ house with his tractor.
In fact, today, Great Tuesday (07.04.2026), the victim appeared in the court of first instance with visible signs of the beating on his face. The court was not convinced by the defence excuses and found the accused guilty, imposing a 10-month jail sentence on the father and a 6-month and 20-day sentence on the son, with suspended sentences for both.
