Tragedy has struck in Crete, where a seven-month-old infant died following a severe respiratory infection, despite doctors’ efforts to keep him alive.
The baby was in Chania on holiday with his Dutch parents when he developed severe health problems. His parents immediately took him to the city’s hospital, where doctors found he was suffering from bronchitis.
Because of his serious condition, but also because of the congenital health problems he was facing, it was decided to transfer him to the “Venizelio” Hospital in Heraklion.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff to stabilize his health, the seven-month-old infant did not succeed and ended up in hospital.
