With the central message of strengthening Greece’s ties with Greeks abroad through interconnection, cooperation and the utilization of human potential, the annual conference of the BrainReGain initiative entitled “RETURN. TALENT. IMPACT. – Connecting Greece with Global Hellenism”.

During the conference, the organization’s new integrated 360° model was presented, which aims to create a strong network between Greece and global Greek talent. The initiative involves representatives of the state, the business and academic community, the diaspora, as well as young scientists and professionals.

The President of BrainReGain and the organization “Hellenism in Action”, Konstantinos Kessenthes, presented the new framework for action, while in his address Kostis Hatzidakis described BrainReGain as part of a broader national effort for the return of young people who emigrated during the years of the economic crisis.

The keynote speaker was Georgios-Stylianos Prevelakis, who addressed the issue of the transition from “brain drain” to “brain network”, underlining that the diasporic nature of Hellenism is one of the country’s most important strategic advantages.

The focus was on the BrainReConnect, BrainExchange, BrainExplore and “Health Returns Home” actions, which seek to create an ongoing network of cooperation, knowledge exchange and reconnection of Greeks abroad with the country.

Sofia Zacharaki spoke about the importance of maintaining the links of communities abroad with Greece through language and culture, while the conference was also attended by George Kotsiras, Marios Themistokleous, Myra Mrogianni, Michalis Bletsas and Ioannis Mastrogeorgiou.

The conference concluded with the presentation of research by the organization’s director general Katerina Balilaki, who stressed that the aim is to maintain the link with global Greek talent and to create a framework that will allow Greeks abroad to remain connected to the country, whether they choose to return or continue their international career.

BrainReGain continues its efforts for a more outward-looking and competitive Greece, leveraging the knowledge, experience and networks of Greeks in the diaspora as a driver of growth and progress for the country’s future.
