The Hellenic Police is currently conducting an active investigation to locate the perpetrator of the murder that took place on Saturday night in Exarchia.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, was walking his dog when he was shot by an unknown assailant. According to reports, he was hit by four bullets and succumbed to his injuries.

The attack took place on the steps leading up to Strefi Hill. Local residents told authorities that the perpetrator fled toward the hill immediately after the incident. Despite the immediate cordoning off of the area and extensive searches, he has not yet been located.

The possibility of a settling of scores is being investigated

The motives for the murder remain under investigation, with all possibilities being examined by the authorities. Five 9-millimeter pistol shell casings were found at the crime scene.

According to information from ERT, one of the main scenarios being examined by police is that of a settling of scores related to drug trafficking rings. The victim is reported to have been of Arab descent.

The victim’s dog is heartbreaking

The image of the 25-year-old’s dog, who was with him at the time of the attack, is particularly moving. According to witnesses, when police officers and EKAΒ paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the animal remaining by its owner’s lifeless body, under his arm, refusing to leave him.
