Tension occurred on Tuesday morning (12/5) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, after an incident in the faculty premises of the institution.
According to information from thestival.gr, shortly before 10:00 a.m., a group of people with helmets and clubs attacked members of the EAK in the premises of the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics.
The incident caused a disturbance, with students being evacuated from the premises for safety reasons. There were also reports of smoke bombs being thrown and damage inside the faculties.
The same reports link the incident to the ongoing confrontation between two far-left student groups, which has reportedly been going on for about a year and has led to incidents inside the university in the past.
So far there have been no reports of injuries or arrests, and an investigation by the relevant authorities is expected.
